To make your situation better you should remove gear from champions you don't use. It's kinda twisted version of "pvp is not pay2win." even when it still is. So if you use ton of money your opponents are either people who use ton of money or players that have build their roster overtime. So if you have many legendary champions you go against person who has similar roster powerlevel than yours. If you are not in Gold (Bronze or Silver) your account power is part of the calculation who your opponents are.
